'Dreams', di Gábor Szabó

Oggi proponiamo un album del chitarrista Gábor Szabó, nato a Budapest nel 1936 ed emigrato in America nel 1956, a vent'anni di età, dopo che i carri armati sovietici repressero la rivolta popolare ungherese.

Tra i tanti suoi album, Dreams è sicuramente uno dei migliori. Qui vengono tra l'altro ripresi temi classici ma con un fraseggio e un ritmo che rispecchiano i canoni della modernità. Stupendi i contrappunti e le armonie semplici (particolarmente i raddoppi di note).

Il seguente è un mio commento in inglese di Dreams.

Impressive music indeed from one of the greatest legends of guitar playing! Besides this --- the album cover (I like it very much: it caught the spirit of those years) has some similarities with Beatles' Revolver cover, made by German artist Klaus Voormann. Revolver came out in the year 1966. Sure, we must put Dreams on a different shelf, but it, too, owes the character of timelessness.
